Material is where everything begins, and our relationship with it has changed. Over time, greater awareness has transformed our daily choices. We read ingredient lists and care labels, we often seek the natural option. We’re paying closer attention to our everyday surroundings—the fabrics we sleep in, the clothes we wear, and the products we trust on our skin.
The choices we make have become more considered. More intentional.
Perhaps it's because we've come to understand something quite simple: what touches our skin matters.
Yet there is one category that has remained largely untouched by this shift.
For decades, swimwear has been defined by synthetic innovation. Performance fabrics engineered for stretch, recovery, and durability. Every advancement has looked forward, asking how swimwear could fit better, or withstand more.
We were among the first to pioneer swimwear made from recycled fibers—transforming what had been discarded into something purposeful. Since then, that thinking has continued to evolve. New textures. New compositions. Materials that draw from both innovation and nature.
Which made us wonder.
What if the next innovation wasn't another synthetic?
Long before nylon and elastane transformed the category, swimwear looked very different.
In the early nineteenth century, bathing costumes were made from natural fibers like wool and cotton. They were practical for the time, designed more for modesty than movement, and certainly not for swimming in the way we understand it today. As technology advanced, those materials gave way to lighter, faster-drying synthetics that made modern swimwear possible.
It was an important evolution, one that shaped nearly every swimsuit we wear today.
But as innovation accelerated, natural fibers gradually disappeared from the conversation.
Until now.
Our first exploration into cotton swimwear began there. With a curiosity around what a natural fiber could offer when viewed through a contemporary lens.

We understand that the future of swimwear may not be defined by a single material. But asking different questions is often where meaningful change begins. This is our first exploration into cotton swimwear—the beginning of a conversation we hope to keep having.
